This number first appears in 1796 in Clonamola, with John Erwin as Master. It is still meeting there in 1797, with William Honeyford as Master, but in 1810, when Honeyford was succeeded by Robert Crockett, it was sitting at Leganny.
rockett held the position until 1828, when he was succeeded by John Mallagh, William Mallagh being appointed to the position in 1830. In 1837 he was succeeded by Thomas Holland, and in 1844 we find John Woodhouse acting as Secretary. In 1845 Thomas Flavelle is Master. He was succeeded in 1850 by William Weir, William Finn, being secretary during those years. In 1853 Thomas Flavelle again became Master with James Walker DM; and John Finn secretary. John McCausland was Master 1860-61; Hugh Albin and W J Gibson being DM’s and James Albin secretary.
During the years 1862-1870, it was known as ‘William Street Orange Lodge’. James Albin was Master during all that time John McCausland being DM 1862-9; and John Lewis, DM 1870-2.
William H Dowey became Master in 1871 and held the office until 1873, during which period it appears to have sat in Br Dowey’s. He was succeeded (1874-6) by Joseph McCaghey, who had been DM in 1875-6. William Gould was DM in 1874 and William Gould in 1875-6. William Gould became Master in 1877, and was succeeded in 1878 by John Boyd. W J McLoughlin was DM 1877-9. It had met in Obin Street from 1874.
Secretaries during the period were :- 1862-5, James White; 1866-7, William Weatherall; 1868, Robert Graham; 1869, William Cummins; 1870-3, William Houston; 1874-76, James Albin; 1877, John Boyd; 1878, George Neill; 1879, Henry Graham.
Treasurers – 1866-7, Joseph Bryars; 1868-71, John Hewitt; 1872-3, James Albin; 1874, Joseph Bryars; 1875-6, Robert Graham; 1877-8, Robert McLoughlin; 1879, Joseph Bryars.
After a short dormant period, the Lodge was revived in 1881, with William Jackson as Master, John Vaughan, DM; William Young, secretary; and George Anderson, treasurer. Thomas McHugh was DM in 1883 and John Parker in 1884.
In 1886 Henry Lowe was elected Master, William Young, DM; John Parker, secretary; and B Montgomery, treasurer. In 1887 these were replaced by William Young, Master, Joseph Holland, DM; John Ewart, secretary, and Robert Campbell, treasurer. The next change was in 1889 when Thomas McHugh became DM. In 1890 Richard Pentland became DM, and William Milligan, secretary. Alex Dawson succeeded in the vice chair in 1891.
An entirely new set of officers was elected in 1892 – William Holland, WM; Thomas McGowan, DM; James McIldoon, secretary; and John McBroom, treasurer. In 1893 R Campbell became DM, William Young, secretary; and Isaac Brady treasurer.
William Young was elected Master in 1894 with Brown Young (his brother) DM, Robert Campbell secretary and James McIldoon, treasurer, and these were re-elected in 1895. Campbell was also secretary in 1896.
In 1896 John Magee was Master, and William Young held the office for the two years 1897-8, being succeeded by David Wilson, 1899-1902. R Pentland was DM, 1896-8; W Young, 1899; and R Pentland, 1900-02.

James Albin became Master in 1903, with R Campbell DM; and Thomas Albin, secretary; while in 1904, John Pierson was Master, Robert Johnson, DM; and William Flanagan, secretary. In May of the same year Samuel Stewart became Master with T Albin, DM.
In 1905 Thomas Albin succeeded to the chair, and held that position until 1912. William McIldoon was DM 1905-6, and Samuel Stewart from 1907-11. The secretaries were – 1905, W Flanagan; 1906-8, James Magee; 1909-10, James Flanagan. The No (number) had been meeting for some years in Meadow Lane.
George Watson, who had been DM, in 1912, became Master in 1913, and occupied the chair until 1926, when he was succeeded by William Anderson, who had been secretary 1912-21, and DM 1922-26. Ross Gibson had been DM 1919-21.
William Anderson occupied the chair until 1929, the DM’s being – 1927, William Mitchell; 1928-9, William McKeown. Isaac McBroom was secretary 1922-9.
Thomas J Hanna was Master 1930-32. In 1930, Isaac McBroom was DM and R S Davison secretary. William Mitchell was DM 1931-2.
During the past three years William Mitchell has been Master, with T J Hanna, DM; William J Stothers, who had been secretary 1913-4 was succeeded in 1935 by S J Pentland.
Brown Young, elected treasurer in 1896, held the position until his death in March, 1931, when he was succeeded by Isaac McBroom, who still holds the office (1935).
In 1882 the Number took the name ‘Royal Standard’, which was extended in 1893 to ‘Williams Johnson’s Royal Standard.’ At one time No 99 had its own band.
During the last half dozen years the lodge has had a very prosperous period, its present membership being about 45. During the Mastership of T J Hanna, it had its Drums repainted, and obtained new collarettes, while special efforts put forward resulted in a considerable sum being put into war savings and certificates.
The principle officers for 1936 were - William Pentland, Thomas street, Portadown; William Anderson, West street, Portadown; Samuel J Pentland, Ormonde Street, Portadown; Isaac McBroom, Cecil street, Portadown.
In 1937 a new banner was unfurled by Sister Mrs Shillington, the wife of the District Master, with Bro. David Eock MBE, JP presiding over the ceremony. The banner featured a portrait of Lord Carson, who had died in 1935 and a painting of King William III.
William Baxter, Portadown's oldest surviving veteran of the Battle of the Somme, was a member of this lodge. He died in 1993. Bro. Tommy Speers, a Royal Air Force veteran, who took part in the Normandy landings in June 1944, laid the wreath at the town's War Memorial on the occasion of the District's pre-Twelfth Orange parade commemorating the 50th Anniversary of D-Day.
Tommy, a Past Master of the lodge died shortly after this event. His son Gordon was installed as Worshipful Master of LOL 99 in January 1995 taking over from his late brother Billy, who had recently occupied the chair until his death in July 1994.
LOL 99 meets in Carleton Street Orange Hall.
