Parkmount Juniors LOL 150 day ruined by evil bigoted nationalists'
See the results of the nationalists' rioting on the links below
Junior Loyal Orange Lodge 150 (JLOL150) formed up in the Parkmount area of Portadown for their annual Bangor Day parade, the RUC & army had to erect a screen across the road to protect the boys from a group of Garvaghy Road Nationalists, when the parade came to Park Road they were supported by a large peaceful Protestant crowd. After completing their Portadown parade the boys and girls of Portadown's Junior Orange movement travelled to Bangor, County Down for their annual parade.
The parade returned to Portadown at about 6pm with JLOL150 completing the Portadown town centre parade with the rest of the junior movement, they then headed to Parkmount for their dispersal as allowed by the Parades Commission ruling, at the end of Park Road the Protestant crowd was prevented from going any further by the RUC with only the Junior Lodge & band being allowed to continue, the crowd was large but peaceful with a member of the Parades Commission taking notes. The Junior Lodge on the other hand had to stop short due to the Garvaghy Road Nationalists attacking the parade with missiles including golf balls and marbles, senior District Officers took the decision to move the juniors back to Park Road in the interests of the children's safety.
District Officers also spoke to a member of the Parades Commission observing the events to voice their protest and ask that the Nationalist attacks be included in his report to which he said 'It couldn't be entered in his main report but he would add a foot note detailing the attack and the peaceful manner of the Protestant observers.' The Nationalist gang attacked the RUC & army causing a number of security force casualties, a group of Protestant observers standing peacefully about 600 metres away from the front line were forced back by the RUC using heavy handed tactics and in some cases foul language and abuse, at the same time the aggressive Nationalist gang was allowed to force their way towards the Protestant Park Road causing the residents to fear for their lives.
Today showed that the RUC when under attack from a Nationalist crowd would rather attack peaceful Protestant observers and allow the violent Nationalist gang to force them out of the area putting Protestant residents under fear of attack.
