Vandals daub paint at Ardmore
Orange Hall targeted again
Ardmore Orange hall has again been the subject to attack
from vandals.
Luminous pink paint has been sprayed in a number of places
at Derryadd Corner as well as road signs and a phone box
at the junction of Derrytrasna Road and Ardmore Road.
The Orange Hall has been the target for similar attacks
on a number of occasions.
A member of the Lodge described the attack as disgraceful
and called for parents to take responsibility for the
actions of their children.
He said: "Someone must have seen this taking place,
they would have had to come some distance to do this and
there are other places they have hit, surely someone must
know something.
"This act of vandalism is perpetrated by people
with no respect or tolerance for other traditions."
He went on: "This is a blatant sectarianism, everyone
is working hard to get along with each other there is
no need for this.
"Parents need to know what their children are up
to and instil a little bit of respect in them, attacks
on Orange Halls and GAA clubs cannot he tolerated any
longer."
Alderman Sam Gardiner condemned the attack. He said :"Attacks
like these should not happen, this is an attack on the
whole community."
Police have said they are investigating the incident
and are appealing for information.
