Orange Hall damaged during attack
An Orange hall has been damaged in an early morning attack
in County Fermanagh.
Stones were thrown at the building in Main Street, Newtownbutler,
while a band was practising inside.
The attackers returned between 0030 GMT and 0130 GMT on
Friday (7th February 2008). Three windows were broken
and paint was thrown over the front of the hall.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information
about the attack to come forward.
County Fermanagh Grand Master Tom Elliott described the
attack as "very deliberate and well organised".
"The people responsible were clearly intent on causing
a lot of damage and who knows what would have happened
if they had not been disturbed," he said.
"I have condemned all attacks on property in the
area and I would now like the people of Newtownbutler,
and their elected representatives, to stand up and make
it clear that they are opposed to this latest attack."
